What happened to the happy hour?
Inside Milk Bag's launch at the Ace Hotel, and a special edition on the happy hour.
Good afternoon everyone.
On Tuesday night, I teamed up with Back Forty and Maple to host a launch party at the Ace Hotel Toronto. A recent rebrand felt like a good excuse to take things offline, and I’m so happy we did.
Milk Bag filled the room with founders and builders who drive its coverage, editors and creators who, I think, own the future of Canadian media, and advisors and partners doing god's work behind the scenes.
I caught up with Mark Swierszcz from Substack, media entrepreneurs like Jon Erlichman and Tim Shore, writers like Isabel Slone and SHAIYAN, and founders like Drummond Munro, Rachel Wong, and Krys Lunardo.
Guests were taken care of for their post-power hour wind down thanks to Bathorium, Formula Fig and Sleep or Die. A huge thank you to Fairgrounds and Oyster Group for their support in making this happen too.

That brings me to today’s newsletter. Three weeks ago, I asked Josh Greenblatt and Michael Li Preti if they’d help me realize a vision of creating a print edition for the event. They were crazy enough to say yes, and we pulled it off.
Below are excerpts from that edition. I hope you have as much fun reading as we had writing.
