The summer of Italian sandwiches.
Toronto Marathon signs ranked, Ryan Reynolds is the face of eggs.
Good evening everyone. Yesterday I ran the Toronto (Half) Marathon with about 12,000 people who also thought it would be a fun way to spend their Sunday morning.
What I enjoy most on race day are the signs. They are a source of both entertainment and distraction. Some are pretty standard — “pain is French for bread”, “you’re faster than the TTC”, “worst parade ever” — but the best are original, current, and positive. I picked up an election theme by kilometre six and starting taking pictures for you guys:

There were fewer runners compared to last year, which is probably because people are shifting to the better-organized Toronto Waterfront Marathon in the fall or looking to other destinations for their long runs: marathon tourism is on the rise, and flashier events like the London Marathon are already reporting record participation this year.
NEWS:

Ryan Reynolds is the face of Tim Hortons scrambled egg boxes. I wish they could have gone with Will Arnett or Seth Rogen for this, not just because people are telling me they have Ryan fatigue but because I can actually picture both of them at a drive-thru. Reynolds has clearly been given total creative control of the announcement and his agency Maximum Effort likely made the commercial.

Shows like The Last of Us, Yellowjackets and Severance, have all shot in Canada.
It’ll be the summer of the Italian sandwich. We have Lambo's, Vilda's, La Salumeria, and now Alfie’s. Paris Steak and Linny's Luncheonette (ok these are not Italian but still seem like good sandwiches) are also opening this week.
